Alicia Silverstone on Sweet Freedom Bakery
www.thekindlife.com/post/sweet-freedom-bakery-in-philadelphia Alicia Silverstone on Sweet Freedom Bakery in Philadelphia. And the girls from Sweet Freedoms story of how they got where they are and why.
"Here is the story of how a little vegan bakery came to be…
Chronic throat, ear and lung infections, congestion, insomnia, major dental issues, frequent unexplained bouts of fainting, and digestive difficulties resulting in countless days of missed school didn’t tip off any of my pediatricians when I was a child that I needed a change in my diet. Even during adolescence and adulthood when my symptoms continued, and acne and anemia were added to the list, no one suggested to me that I might alter that way that I was eating. Consuming the standard American diet of packaged and processed foods loaded with saturated animal fats, chemicals and additives only fueled these issues. Though most people eating this way would gain lots of weight, I was continuing to lose weight and have terrible digestive issues (probably due to sheer mal-nutrition!) I felt weak and totally depleted.
It wasn’t until I got to grad school that I realized that my utter lack of energy and declining health was keeping me from realizing my life goals. I had been to countless doctors, and had tested positive for endometriosis, as well as an “unspecified autoimmune disease,” (they thought I might have Lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome or both). I was prescribed a number of drugs, including a steroid that induced insomnia and made me feel like my heart was racing out of my chest.
Around the age of 25 when my digestive issues were at their worst, (not to mention I would often break out in hives or experience terrible headaches after eating), I was diagnosed with allergies to wheat, dairy, yeast, and cane sugar, among other foods. At my wits’ end, weak and underweight (literally from mal-nutrition!), I decided to seek the advice of a holistic and integrative physician."It all sounds familiar .. and what I am still trying to figure out. Kyle and Jenny's Wedding
Bad photos. But.. These were programs created for my brothers wedding that was back in April. The photo of an inside page is from a rough program, so the text is missing. Eventually I will get some better pictures up.
... and grandma rocked the blow up guitar. She's got way more energy than I do.
cake typography project
this is kind of a little project I'm working on for a few pages of a little marketing deal. .. But, I must redo icing type and redo "detail" in sprinkles. I want to redo it on a flat cake. Only the word DETAIL in sprinkles on a flat round plain white cake. A better take on things after viewing and actually taking time to do them right. Plus, my photography turned out poor. I'll post things when they are finalized. If only I wasn't so busy busy.
2010love - Inspiring people to make positive changes for themselves and for those around them. Starting Now.
2010love was launched by Handshoe Design Collaborative (started in November of 2009). They began 2010 with a goal of creating a difference. They set a tight deadline for this project, giving them only two weeks to produce the shirts, take photos of their goods, and create an Etsy store, and a blog that would be successful and really support the 2010 project. Then came finding sites to support 2010love. They connected with twitter, facebook, and had sites like CoolMomPicks.com, DesignMom.com and OperationNice.com as marketing leads.
This is a great tag and also an awesome idea and purpose! Inspiring all to make a difference and take action starting now!
"We challenge you to decide what you love and love it in a big way. Embrace philanthropy. Volunteer. If you’re a leader, lead. If you have a gift, share it. Whatever you have to give, make the decision, then take action in 2010:
Love what matters."Check out Handshoe Design Collaborative, the combined creativity of two sisters. Dedicated to a conscious, sustainable way of life and business. Helping people to develop a brand or a business that has the power and energy to really make a difference!
