First Birthday Cake Set

Cake to serve approximately 50 people for a child's first birthday! The boy loves Dr. Seuss and balloons. The small kids cake and the cake on the left were all white in flavor with buttercream frosting and the one on the left a chocolate cake. They wanted to be sure to have some chocolate cake, so I split the design up into two different cakes! Wanted to include balloons so.. the Cat and the hat is holding a balloon in the right hand, unlike the photo I looked at of him holding a fish bowl. Had to work late that night at my design job – so by the time I was finishing up with the cake, it was getting VERY LATE and I was falling asleep!. But SUCCESS! It turned out great! :)

Check out Anna Maria Horner .. Painter, designer, sewer. She has some really creative/fun/well made and designed aprons, kitchen towels, clothing, purses, rugs, notepads, organizers, sewing patterns and much more. Her work is full of unique, fun patterns and eye popping colors. The fabric prints are great designs and the quality of the fabric is very heavy, durable and well crafted. I ran into her goods at a local little shop downtown. Such great quality and very creative.

cake typography project

this is kind of a little project I'm working on for a few pages of a little marketing deal. .. But, I must redo icing type and redo "detail" in sprinkles. I want to redo it on a flat cake. Only the word DETAIL in sprinkles on a flat round plain white cake. A better take on things after viewing and actually taking time to do them right. Plus, my photography turned out poor. I'll post things when they are finalized. If only I wasn't so busy busy.

What is 2010love?

2010love was launched by Handshoe Design Collaborative (started in November of 2009). They began 2010 with a goal of creating a difference. They set a tight deadline for this project, giving them only two weeks to produce the shirts, take photos of their goods, and create an Etsy store, and a blog that would be successful and really support the 2010 project. Then came finding sites to support 2010love. They connected with twitter, facebook, and had sites like CoolMomPicks.com, DesignMom.com and OperationNice.com as marketing leads.

This is a great tag and also an awesome idea and purpose! Inspiring all to make a difference and take action starting now!

Miniature Cupcakes!

It's February. I'm going to pretend this is the beginning of my New Year and start fresh. I think this is a perfect start :)
In my spare time, when I have nothing else to do... I like to take pictures of cupcakes! <3 

One day I found some pretty plates and vases/candle holders at an antique store and glued them together with epoxy to make dessert/cake stands! Here is one stand, but I made three. The other two were made with fancier, antique plates with gold candle holders. They add chic elegance to my pink decor in my apartment.  Anyway.. I had fun today making cute little cupcakes in-between constructing 250 wedding invitations. Such pretty sprinkles! I can't wait for Valentines Day!

These were made with egg. But miniature cupcakes are so perfect. Just the right size.. not too much. And they are so darn cute. Next on my list are some egg free banana bars! I've been craving this for daysss.

CHOCOLATE! OHHH CHOCOLATE!

100% Chocolate Cafe  located in Kyobashi is a cafe dedicated to chocolate. Chocolate is used in all of the food and drinks. They offer 56 different types of solid square chocolate, numbered 1-56.  Can't tell what is being said on their website.. but... I thinkkkk... I want to go there.

I also really enjoy there simple packaging design. Focusing on the text.. plain, clear, clean, and a sense of freshness = refreshing.  Kind of the Vitamin Water packaging approach. It gives a feeling of Pureness. PURE chocolate. mmmmm!
